INTRODUCTION

 

Ghee rice is a popular south Indian rice where it is cooked with ghee and rice . ghee is the one of the Indian traditional rice. It is often served with kuruma, chicken gravy ,mushroom gravy etc.. Ghee rice is used by preparing onion, ghee , bayleaf , cloves etc.. Ghee helps to moisturize dry skin and hair. It improves memory power and strengthens brain and nerve system. Ghee rice is also called as neychoru, ghee bhat , ney sadham etc.. Let’s gets started our receipe.

Ingredients:

Ghee – 3 tbsp

Bayleaf - 1

Cinnamon - 2

Cloves - 1

Onion – 3 (Largely and Thinly sliced)

Green chilli - 3

Cashews -6

Basmati rice -1 cup

Water – 2 cup

Lemon juice – 1 tsp

Salt – required

 

Instructions:

  • Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  • Roast the cashew and keep it aside.
  • In a presser cooker add ghee. Once, it gets heated add bay leaf , cloves, cinnamon, and wait for 1 minute.
  • After that add largely sliced onion and required salt and saute well.
  • Now add green chilli and mix well.
  • Then add I cup of soaked basmati rice and mix it without breaking the rice.
  • Further add 2 cups of water , lemon juice stir well and wait for water gets boiled.
  • After water gets boiled close the lid of the presser cooker and cook for 2 whistles.
  • Once its done turn off the flame , open the lid and fluff the rice gently.
  • Finally add roasted cashew nuts and garnish with few coriander leaves .
  • Enjoy Ghee rice with any gravy or kurma.

Notes:

  • We should also add ginger garlic paste in this receipe.
  • Use good quality of basmati rice.
  • Instead of water we should add 1 cup of coconut milk and 1 cup of water.
  • Use home made ghee to get a rich flavour.
