Tamarind Rice/ pulisadham

Tamarind rice is also known as pulihora ,puliyodarai, puliyogare,
pulinchuru etc…It is traditional rice prepared in south indian .It cure disease
like heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Tamarind has no fat content. It is
rich in fibre .Tamarind rice is used by preparing peanuts ,channa dal ,turmeric
powder etc…It is usually prepared on festival days .In, temples also it is
given as prasadam to devotees.
Ingredients:
Cooked rice -2cups
Oil - 2tbsp
Mustard seeds-1tsp
Red chilli-3
Channa dal-1tsp
Urad dal-1tsp
Peanuts-1tsp
Hing-1pinch
Curry leaves-few
Salt- as needed
Turmeric powder-1tsp
Tamarind extract-1lemon sized
Instructions:
- Soak 1 lemon sized tamarind in warm water for about 10 minutes
- After 10 minutes squeeze and extract tamarind juice and keep it aside .
- Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds ,red chilli and curry leaves .
- Add channa dal,urad dal, peanuts and wait until it becomes golden brown.
- Add 1pinch of hing and saute well .
- Then add turmeric powder and required salt
- After that add tamarind extract and keep it into a low flame for few minutes until oil separate.
- Then add cooked rice and mix well
- Once ,its done turn off the flame.
- Transfer it into a serving bowl.
Notes:
- Instead of red chilli we should use green chilli
- Serve it with potato gravy, appalam or vadagams
- We should prepare it by using yesterday left over rice
