ABOUT PRAWNS:
Prawn or eral thokku is a must try recipe if you love to eat prawns. To prepare the eral or prawn thokku prawns are cooked in a onion, tomato base and mixed of every spices used in the kitchen. The prawns go well with the quantity of spices added in the prawns masala you can also lower the spice level according to your taste.
Eral thokku is a simple recipe and can be made
quickly on the week end. So if you're looking for quick recipes I suggest you
to prepare this receipe. It is an perfect dish for south Indian meal
Prawn thokku can be served with steamed rice and idli , dosa, chappathi , poori .It gives perfect match

Ingredients:
Prawns – 1 cup
Onion – 4
Tomatoes – 3
Green chilli – 2
Ginger garlic paste – 1
tsp
Salt – As Needed
Oil – 2 tbsp
Water – Required
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – few
Fresh coriander leaves –
few
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Black pepper powder – 1
tsp
How to make prawn thokku or eral thokku:
- To begin making the prawn thooku recipe,add salt and turmeric powder to the cleaned prawns, mix it well and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in pan once, oil gets heated add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and wait for crackle.
- Once its gets crackle add ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell of the paste is gone. Once done add chopped onions, curry leaves and green chilies and cook till onions turns into golden brown.
- After the onions have gets golden brown colour then add chopped tomatoes. Cook till tomatoes turn soft and smashy.
- Once tomatoes turns smashy and oil gets separated add the spice powders like the red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder black pepper powder, salt .
- Mix and stir everything well to get combine.
- Now add cleaned prawns , make sure prawns are well coated in the spices.
- Add 1 glass of water and give a stir mix and then cover the lid and cook well.
- Once the prawns are cooked and turns into gravy consistency turn off the flame.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve it hot with idli, dosa, poori and steamed rice.
Notes:
- Adjust spices asper your taste.
- Instead of water you can also add 1 glass of coconut milk in this receipe.
- You can also add scrambled egg in this receipe.
- You can also add grated coconut in this receipe.
